About The Crossing & The Braeriach
Our Story
Crossing (Scotland) Ltd was established in the Badenoch village of Kingussie in January 2024. Currently the company owns and runs two recently renovated self-check in bed and breakfast destinations offering authentic Highland hospitality in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
The Crossing is located in the charming village of Kingussie. Originally known as the Silverfjord since its inception in 1901, the premises have been thoughtfully renovated to blend historic charm with modern comforts. The same is true of its sister establishment, The Braeriach situated in the neighbouring village of Newtonmore, which was extensively renovated before opening for business in May 2025.
The Crossing and The Braeriach stand as a testament to Badenoch’s rich heritage and the natural beauty of the Scottish Highlands. Our recent renovations have transformed these historic sites into contemporary havens for travellers seeking an immersive Highland experience.

The Braeriach
“Recently renovated, stylish hotel with excellent service and location The entire property has been beautifully renovated, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The self check-in via code went smoothly thanks to clear communication in advance, yet it still felt like a personal welcome. Sam was particularly helpful and gave us a great recommendation for a beautiful walk near Fort William, where we stayed at the end of our trip. Breakfast was superb, with a choice between continental and full English options. There are plenty of hiking opportunities nearby, making it a perfect base, and the location is ideal for those walking the East Highland Way. Please note: as of June 2025, the Google reviews still reflect the previous owners and are not at all representative of the current experience. We would absolutely recommend this hotel. A comfortable and peaceful place to fully unwind.” — Sarah (9 Jun 2025)
“Beautifully presented, and very functional. Great customer service, friendly staff and personal touch. Would gladly stay here again.” — Marion (8 Jun 2025)
“Excellent location, quiet and comfortable, friendly, great value breakfast” — Ping (4 Jun 2025)
